President Buhari Reportedly Set To Sack CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele

According to Yes! international, Emefiele, the former Managing Director of Zenith Bank, allegedly got into President Muhammadu Buhari’s bad books following some shocking revelations linking him to the unfolding $2.2 billion Dasukigate.

Specifically, the erstwhile Director of Finance in the Office of the National Security Adviser, Shuaibu Salisu, alleged that under Emefiele, a whopping $47 million was taken out of CBN in 11 suitcases for onward transfer to the ex – NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd. Another N10 billion also allegedly left the CBN vaults with his knowledge and handed to People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to prosecute some of their elections.

The other story that is equally said to be working against Emefiele was his invitation to respected businessmen, Tony Elumelu and Jim Ovia, to one of the earliest meetings Buhari held with the international community in London. The two men’s presence at the meeting didn’t quite jell with the President and he reportedly made this known to Emefiele.

We learnt that some names have already been pencilled down to replace him. However, the coast will become clearer between now and the first quarter of 2016.

Charles Novia Lists His Best 5 Actresses For 2015

Charles says, these are his best 5 actresses for 2015 and of course he would soon release the list of his best 5 actors in 2015.

In what has now become an annual and personal reward system for actors of sorts, which I feel is needed for an ingrained development for Nollywood, my annual list of ‘Best Actresses and Best Actors’ in Nollywood for the year has been something for me to look forward to compiling as with what many readers of my critiques also look forward to reading.

In 2013, Mercy Johnson got the top diadem from me and in 2014, Nse Ikpe Etim got the Best Actress award. For the year 2015, I and my usual team of professional critics sat down once again to draw up a list after watching a number of films through the year. But something quite interesting caught my attention this year; the rise of television series on Nigerian television more than ever in terms of quality and direction. This development seems to have been triggered off by Africa Magic and its original films and commissioned fares and other established independent producers caught the bug too.

Thus, whilst I and my team did a lot of film watching, we also could not ignore the power of the acting in some television series we watched and followed and I decided to also add some actresses who did quite well in such series to my list.

Why Nigeria Needs Social Media Bill To Curb Irresponsible Journalism

Article written by Tony Ogunlowo

This article is not going to win me any new friends – especially in the blogging community – but in the spirit of democracy I believe a bill to curb the irresponsibility of some bloggers and social media users is necessary after all.

In a country that’s just getting to grips with the concept of free speech, many see this proposed bill as an attempt to gag free speech as the incumbent President did in 1984 with his infamous Decree 4.

I don’t think it’s the intention of the sponsors of the social media bill to return to the throwback days of controlled press and free speech but to police it, weeding out what I would refer to as rogue bloggers, for instance, who publish, sometimes, malicious lies about people and the government.
