The Peoples Democratic Party has described the apology credited to the party’s National Conference Committee Chairman, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, as his personal opinion. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, stated this in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to Metuh, the statement made by the Chairman of Daar Communications, was not in any way a representation of the official position of the PDP, as he was not a member of the party’s National Executive Committee.
Mr. Dokpesi had on Tuesday apologized on behalf of the PDP for mistakes the party made during its 16 years rule in the country. He also described as a big mistake, the choice of former President Goodluck Jonathan as the presidential candidate of the party in the 2015 poll.
Mr. Metuh while speaking said the choice of Jonathan was approved by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), and the party’s National Caucus, and as such there is nothing to regret.
