See How Nigerian Police Reacted As Pro-Biafra Protesters Stormed Owerri

Pro-Biafra protesters in their hundreds, took their demonstration to Owerri, the Imo State capital on Thursday, calling for the release of Mr Nnamdi Kanu, the acclaimed director of Radio Biafra.

The protesters, comprising members of Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra and the Indigenous People of Biafra, marched along major streets in the State capital, chanting pro-Biafra songs and war songs.

It would be recalled that the pro-Biafra supporters carried out demonstrations in Enugu, Aba, and Port Harcourt, earlier in the week.

The three markets in the city, the New Market, Owerri Main Market and Owerri Relief Market, were shut while some private schools and shop owners closed their businesses.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Andrew Enwerem, when contacted on why armed policemen were accompanying the agitators, declined comment.
