“And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.”
(1 Kings 18: 40)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In 1 Kings 18 vs. 1, God promised to send rain upon the earth. God made a promise about something He was set to do. Between the prophecy and fulfillment, the prophets of Baal were slain by Elijah. Some people died and went under before God’s plan was made manifest. Between the promise of rain and the fulfillment, something had to die.
Friend, between the promises of God upon your life and the fulfillment, some things need to die. There are negative habits, attitudes, behaviour, trends, mannerisms, practices, relationships, etc that need to die for God's word concerning your life to manifest. There are things you may not be doing right which you may need to begin to do right so that God’s will can be made manifest.
The prophets of Baal did not die on their own; Elijah killed them with the sword. God says, between the word you have received and the fulfillment, kill the things that need to go down in your life. Kill anger, strife, pride, unforgiveness, envy, jealousy, wickedness, dishonesty, inconsistency, incompetence, laziness, procrastination, unrighteousness, immorality, corruption, and everything that pushes God away from your life.
If you don't kill the things that need to die in your life, they might kill your destiny and stop you from fulfilling your God-given potentials. If you retain the things you need to discard, just maybe you will have to live in regret later.
Don’t be counted among those who frustrate the grace of God from manifesting. If it is in you and it needs to die, kill it before it kills you.
Pray With Me: Lord, kill everything in me that is hindering Your word from coming to pass, in Jesus’ name!
