Rivers State University Fixes Date For Post-UME, Disregards FG Directive
Despite the Federal government directive on the scrapping of the Post-UTME Screening exercise, Rivers state-owned University in an announcement signed by the Registrar, D.C Odimabo has released a schedule for conducting the examination.

President Muhammadu Buhari will not return to Nigeria from London, where he is spending his 10-day medical vacation, until Sunday.

Nigeria Unveils New Forex Policy, Removes Controls On Naira
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Wednesday formally unveiled the much-awaited flexible foreign exchange policy, saying it would launch a forex interbank trading window that will be purely market-driven.
The new policy effectively removes controls on the naira, and is expected to increase dollar supply and help the nation’s weak economy.
Making the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday, CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, said the bank will operate a single trading window, to be launched on Monday.

Singing maestro, Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known has OJB Jezreel has passed on. He died about an hour ago after another kidney failure.
His body has been deposited at a morgue in Isolo General Hospital. He died at the age of 49, a month to his 50th birthday. Millions of naira was raised for him few years ago to fly out of the country for a kidney transplant which was successful, but sadly, OJB passed on today, June 14, 2016.
He is survived by 8 children and three wives. So sad.

Just days after losing a former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi whose death has been a big blow to the sporting world, sadly, another hero has fallen, and he is also a former Super Eagles coach, but presently the technical director of the Nigerian Football Federation.

APC Worried Over Governor Wike
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has expressed worry over the state government’s continued silence on recent cult-related killings in the state.
No fewer than 19 people were killed in Aluu community in Ikwerre local government area and Obite community in Etche local government area on Friday night while 11 persons were killed on Saturday night in three communities in Emohua local government area of the state.

Buhari Orders 2-Week Ceasefire In Niger Delta To Enable Dialogue With Militants
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the military to suspend operations in the Niger Delta for two weeks to create a window for dialogue with militants.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja.
According to him, the Federal Government is determined to explore the dialogue option, with a view to restoring genuine peace in the region, where oil production has been significantly hurt by activities of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, in the last two months.

Scrapping Of Post-UTME Does Not Stop Universities From Screening Students- NUC
The Public Relations officer of the Nigerian Universities Commission, Ibrahim Yakasai, has stated that despite the new directive scrapping the Post-UTME, universities are allowed to screen students sent to them for admission by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
